Hey guys,

As we step into a new year, I want to take a moment to encourage each of you to carve out time to listen to what God might be saying about the year ahead. As I’ve been listening I believe that I’ve been hearing that this is the year we get ahead. As such it's something I’ve been praying over for my family, and I will be praying the same over each of you and your families as well.

This year, I believe God is calling us to make significant strides in all areas of life—whether it’s finances, relationships, health, or our spiritual walk. As we head into 2025, I want to ask each of you to prayerfully consider how this might apply to you. What does it look like to “get ahead” for you? How is God inviting you to grow?

In terms of spiritual growth, one thing I’d like us to focus on is how we’re spending our daily time with Jesus. In 2023, I made a commitment to a bible plan and as a result read through the Bible cover to cover four times. In 2024, I did a similar plan and have read through the Bible cover to cover three times. For 2025, I’m feeling led to focus just on the New Testament—10 chapters a day, which amounts to one time through the New Testament each month, 12 times all the way throughout the year. It's a challenge, but I want to encourage you to find a plan that works for you. The key is getting God’s Word into our hearts and minds.

You may not read as much as I do, and that’s okay! What matters is that we’re consistently feeding our spirits with the life-giving Word of God and spending time listening and responding to Him. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” plan—whether you read through the Bible in a year, follow a devotional plan, or dig deep into specific books of the Bible, the important thing is to prioritize time with Jesus daily.

This year is also about recognizing that God is doing something fresh in our lives, and it’s a huge privilege to get onboard with what He’s up to. With everything that’s happening around us, staying connected to God and His Word is the only place we’ll find true security.

Let’s set goals by listening to God’s voice and allow Him to set our direction. As you pray and seek His will for 2025, take time to ask Him: “What are you calling me to in these areas? What does it look like for me to get ahead this year?”

We’re all in this together as brothers in Christ, and I’m excited to see how God moves in each of our lives this year.

Let's run this race so as to win the prize.

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24

PS: This was written to the guys in my lifegroup, but is encouragement to anyone that would read it to be intentional about following Jesus.
